Summer actvities for children

Children and Young People's Services has also been hard at work setting up their Summer Play Scheme for the holidays.

Open Access days will be held in the Living Classroom. Beginning 2 August, these free sessions run Mon-Wed for four weeks and comprise two workshops, one in the morning, one in the afternoon. Activities range from learning how to make your own butter to building your own portable habitat to take home and keep insects in. (Don't forget to ask your parents before installing a whole load of creepy crawlies at home though. Some can be a little bit squeamish about the idea!). You can also learn about the intricate life cycles of animals and plants.

Or visit the Drop In Club. Designed for local kids, registration is on the 2 August, with the club itself starting on the 3rd. Hours are 10am until 3pm, Mon-Wed.

Finally, if you live locally, each Thursday during August outreach workers will be heading out to bring Play to local estates. Keep an eye out for them, they might just enliven your day.
