All this week (from April 13th – 19th) we’ll be sharing our farm with farmers and farm-lovers as we takeover the @FarmersoftheUK twitter account! We’ll be sharing our daily activities and a bit more about Mudchute throughout the week. It’s a great chance to ask us your questions and find out more about life at Mudchute.
Our orphan lambs have caught the eye of the cameras! BBC film crews have been on site with little Bo and Belle, filming first for BBC This Week, then for the BBC News at Six. The BBC This Week episode aired on the 9th of April and features not just our lambs, but some fantastic view of the farm and its residents!
Here is a clip featuring Bo and Belle: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02nt44n
You can watch the entire episode on iplayer here and we feature from 20:15.
Two summers ago, our staff and volunteers cut and gathered hay from across our big field. The hay has been kept dry in haystacks and one of our jobs has been cutting the stack into stackable bales, which are easy to store and transport. To do so, staff and volunteers have been using a hay knife to slice the stack into bales and while it is hard work, the traditional technique seems to be quite effective!
