Sheep Grazing in the big field from 17 May 2021

Wednesday, 12 May 2021 12:10

The largest paddock within the big field (which is where dogs are let of the lead) will be temporarily grazed by our sheep the week commencing the 17/5/2021 for a possible 3 weeks. (depending on grass intake).

The field will be closed to people and dogs 24hrs a day as the sheep will be grazing throughout the day and night. The field will remain closed for a subsequent 3 weeks after grazing to comply with H&S regulations. As has happened throughout the last year with the lower paddock.

We are grazing rather than mowing as we cannot afford the cost of mowing at present, also using sheep to graze this field is more environmentally friendly.

  • Please do not enter the field at anytime.
  • Dogs can scare or harm Farm animals so please keep them on a lead around livestock.
  • Please do pick up after your dog and put bags in the bins provided.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Reopening and Improvement Works Update - 17 April 2021

Saturday, 17 April 2021 08:11

Following the relaxation of the government lockdown restrictions, we ask for your understanding and co-operation as we go some way to explaining our plans with regard to opening.

We did not reopen on the 12th of April, the main reasons for this are:

  • Under the new guidelines all people would be allowed to do is stand and look, no interaction, no animal feed for sale and no talks or activities would be permitted currently.
  • We are just waiting for confirmation of a start date for some large refurbishment works to include.
    • All of our main pathways around site, including Pier Street - Asda.
    • A new pathway around the main animal route.
    • Refurbishment of the main courtyard including brand new toilets.
    • A completely new water system around the whole farm.
  • This means that heavy plant machinery will be working around the farm site.

There are areas of the farm that are closed off and will remain closed for a little more time, we ask that you respect these barriers and do not cross them. The wider park will remain open as it has done throughout but please do ensure that you follow the government guidelines when visiting Mudchute.

The equestrian centre is still closed

The cafes opening hours will be: Tuesday - Friday 10am-4pm and Saturday - Sunday 10am-5pm

The only toilets open on site will be in the cafe but do remember The cafe toilets are for cafe customers only.

The Mudchute Shop is not open but is running online ordering.

Please remember that the cafe and shop are independent franchises and are not staffed by Mudchute staff.

This is the first time since its inception that Mudchute has been able to undergo such refurbishment and improvements. These works will have major positive effects for visitors to Mudchute and make the work of our staff team much easier.

Even though a few of the animals will remain off show we will have sheep, cows and other animals moving around the farm for people to still enjoy.

Please remember that you cannot feed the animals anything other than grass picked on the farm.

We do not have a date set for opening the closed areas of the farm.

We will keep you updated with any changes as soon as we know.

Stay safe and thank you for your patience and support.

Thank You & Update
