No Access to Lower Paddock due to Grazing

Hello everyone farmer Tom here, I just wanted to let you all know that from today the sheep we will be grazing down in the lower paddock, which means that there will be no access into that field during the day (due to sheep being in there) or at night. There are four reasons why we are doing this:

  • At this current moment in time we cannot afford to get the fields mowed (annually they cost is around £6000+)
  • Grazing the sheep in that field will save us more money on feed as grass is the best feed that sheep can have.
  • Grazing helps increase the biodiversity of the area as the sheep will clear the more vigorous plant species leaving room for more delicate varieties to grow.
  • It is more environmentally friendly than mechanical mowing.

So please remember the following:

  • This does not limit people’s movements around the farm.
  • We have authorisation from LBTH.
  • Keep dogs on leads when walking around the nature trail area of the farm (livestock worrying by dogs is a criminal offence).
  • please pick up their poo and put it in the bins provided... there has been an increased dog poo left, especially on the nature trail!
  • Thank you very much in advance for your cooperation.
