Mid-March at Mudchute

mudchute-2031

As we reach the middle of March, there is not long left now until lambing comes into full swing. The first of our ducklings are growing up quickly and schools are eagerly watching the eggs they are incubating as a part of our Hatch and Brood programme.

We've been treated to very warm weather over the past few days. The warm sunshine has really made it feel like Spring has arrived. There are blossoms and new shoots cropping up across the farm. Birds are busily gathering nesting material and we've seen several butterfly species on the wing. Our ponds are filling with frogspawn and we've spotted toads and newts too. The days are growing noticeably longer each day as well. Not long now until we'll be making the switch to British Summer Time and our summer opening times.
