SHEEP & WOOL WORKSHOP

This session will focus on sheep, what they look and feel like including differences in their wool and the group will look at how wool is used. The session is divided into four main areas:

  • Fun facts

  • Shearing wool

  • What sheep provide us with

  • Question and answers

The workshops starts at 10:30am for one hour.

The activity will start with a health and safety introduction from the designated member of staff.

The sheep shearing demonstration will firstly involve looking at the sheep to be sheared and the farmer will give some fun facts about the sheep.

The group will be shown a fleece and discuss the different types of wool from different types of sheep. The group discusses the possible uses of wool and its final products.

Question time - this is an opportunity for the group to ask the farmer questions regarding the demonstration.

Then we will return to the barn were you will be reminded to wash hands before eating.
